I purchased the newer $80 adapter and it would not charge my Mac. I returned it to the store and took the Mac with me. Turns out none of the new adapters would power my Mac, only the older adapters, like this product. Apple no longer sells the older version and on eBay (where the Apple store suggested I find the older adapter), they were asking as much as $121 for brand new versions of the older adapter. So I was delighted to find this product from this vendor, though titled a bit differently than expected for such a reasonable price. It works fine and charges my MacBook Pro just fine. Also, the new adapter blocks one of the USB outlets next to the power outlet. I used the item only 4 times at a second office. When unplugging on the 4th use, the entire plug portion broke apart.
